Dedication:
"To
every lonely soul suffering behind closed walls: your voice is heard, and your
pain is real."
Introduction
Writing
this book was no fleeting literary stroll; rather, it was an arduous, agonizing
journey into the labyrinth of the human psyche, and a direct confrontation with
wounds that society has long preferred to lock away and deny. In every story
within this collection, I found myself walking on the edge of a razor
blade—torn between my desire as a writer to strip away the facade of reality
and bear honest witness to my time, and the ache of the soul as it watches the
misery of human beings imprisoned within their own silence.
The
Price of Confession is not
merely a title I chose for the cover of this collection; it is a reality that
I, and the protagonists of these stories, have lived through. In listening to
the testimonies and heartaches of those around me, I came to realize that the
hardest thing a person can do in our societies is to be "true to
oneself." To reveal your identity, to expose a psychological trauma you
endured, or to cry out your pain and fear, automatically means you must be
ready to pay the price. And the price of speaking out here is extortionate; it
could mean ostracization, social stigma, the loss of those closest to you, and
more often than not, the complete forfeiture of safety and peace of mind.
Throughout
these lines, I have moved between psychiatric clinics where masks fall away and
traumas are laid bare, and the train stations of exile, carrying bodies fleeing
the hell of prejudice and bullying. With my words, I sought to touch that weary
soul frozen by sheer terror, and those hearts subjected to blackmail, threats,
and persecution simply because they tried to love or live out their difference.
As I
penned these tragedies, I constantly asked myself: How can an environment meant
to be a safe haven built on affection transform into a scaffold that slaughters
its own children? How does "love" become, in the eyes of some, a sin
that justifies banishment, while cruelty, ignorance, and betrayal pass by
completely unnoticed?
The
protagonists of my stories are not strangers to you. They are people you
encounter every day on the street, at work, or perhaps those who sit with you
at the same dinner table, wearing masks of silence just to survive. I wrote
about them and for them; to tell every lonely soul suffering behind closed
walls that your voice is heard, and your pain is real.
I place
this collection in your hands, not to offer ready-made solutions, but to open a
window for listening and empathy—so that together we may feel the value of
humanity and acceptance before passing judgments that destroy lives. I hope you
find within these pages a mirror that reflects truths without distortion, and a
courage that inspires you never to fear showing your true self... no matter the
price.
